Please pray for Chez as she embarks on this exciting work. The Missions Mobilizer position is being funded in equal parts by Avant, OMF, SIM, TEAM, Wycliffe and KWM. If you are interested in getting more involved in Global missions or the Missions Hub, please feel free to contact Chez at chez@missionshub.ca . The following is a letter of introduction from Chez:

Dear Knox Church,

It is with great joy that I greet you in the name of Jesus Christ! I am honoured to write to you today as the new Mobilization Coordinator for the Missions Hub. I have had the privilege of interacting with your community on a number of occasions throughout the years and, the more I learn of the Knox Church family, the greater insight I have into the wonderful missional legacy that God has built through this church.

By way of introduction, I would like to share my testimony with you. Born and raised by a faithful family in rural Saskatchewan, I chose to follow Jesus as a young child. I was 8 years old when God planted in my heart a dream for missions. And, while I have always been passionate for missions at home, my heart ached for the work He might have for me overseas. In university, I chose to become a teacher and I found great delight being involved in Power to Change and sharing Jesus with international students. Upon graduation, God directed me to Toronto for a couple of years to teach international students and to work alongside many Christian communities here.

It was during my time in Toronto that a friend recommended me to a team of Christian doctors pioneering medical education in rural Burundi.  I had the privilege of joining this team to be a teacher for the doctors children. As I worked alongside this faithful group over the past two years, my understanding of how God enters into the brokenness and injustice of this world through missions was established and strengthened. I often found my mind swimming in the seemingly endless opportunities to share His love.

Now, the Lord has led me back to Toronto.  As the Mobilization Coordinator with the Missions Hub, I get to encourage others to take up their crosses and follow Jesus wherever He calls them! In this exciting new role, I have the opportunity to champion missions to some of the best and brightest at the U of T, and to foster unity amongst the wider Church as we work together in mission. I am reminded of the letter to the Galatians, in which Paul proclaims that “there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (3:28)  I wait on the Lord to see what He will do through the Missions Hub as we help to bring together Mission agencies, Churches and campus groups for the Kingdom.

I have been so encouraged by God’s faithfulness, manifested through this church. Only God can plant Knox Church in the heart of downtown Toronto to shine like a beacon to this city! Only God can bring missions agencies and churches, nations and tribes alike together to work for His Kingdom.  It is an honour for me to come alongside what God is already doing in this place, at this time. Thank you for welcoming me to join you. To God be the Glory!

Grace and peace,

Chez
