Some of y’all have been asking for some more info on Songs in the Key of Life: How the Psalms Shape Us. Well, ask and you shall receive:

Saturday, January 23 ( 9 – 430 pm) — wait, I thought I saw 9:30am as the start time? This is true, but if you’d like to get registered and a good seat, we’d recommend that you come at 9.

Focus: Throughout the day together, we are going to explore the Old Testament Psalms, these ancient songs and prayers of scripture, which communicate the heart of God and express the language of our hearts.

The day will be filled with times of worship, 3 teaching sessions, a simple meal, as well as opportunities for prayer and personal reflection.

Retreat Schedule:

  • 9 am – Registration
  • 930 am – #1 Session: How the Psalms Shape Our Lives
  • 1045 am – Coffee Break
  • 11 am – #2 Session: How the Psalms Shape Our Worship
  • 12:30 pm – Lunch Break
  • 1:30 pm – #3 Session: How The Psalms Shape Our Prayer
  • 3 pm – #4 Session: Practicing the Psalms as Personal Prayer
  • 4 pm – Final Worship

Retreat Leaders/Speakers:

Glen Soderholm is a long – time Presbyterian pastor who is involved in creative church planting in Guelph, Ontario. A gifted speaker and singer/songwriter with several CD’s to his credit, he also leads Moveable Feast, a Canadian based worship resource ministry. Glen is our worship leader for the day and one of our retreat speakers.

Phil Reinders is the Senior Minister of Knox Church. He is the author of the best-selling devotional,”Seeking God”s Face: Praying with the Bible Through the Year”

Paul Johansen is the Director of Discipleship and Care at Knox Church. He is also an instructor in The Emmaus Formation Centre. Paul taught a course on the Psalms for several years at Tyndale College.
