Don’t forget Ezra nights are starting up this Wednesday, September 23rd.
We are all worshippers; as David Foster Wallace notes “In the day-to-day trenches of adult life, there is actually no such thing as atheism. There is no such thing as not worshipping. Everybody worships. The only choice we get is what to worship.” During this time of renewal and transition at Knox, we are called to be a people that worships God as we journey. Ezra Nights are rooted in the biblical story to help remind ourselves that before we ask for things, before we finish the project, before we figure it all out, when only the foundation of renewal has been set, we worship God for who he is everything he has done and everything he is going to do. Ezra nights are a reminder that above all the good visions and desires we have for our community, we need to seek God first, to trust him, and to submit our dreams to him. We do this trusting that His dreams are far grander than anything we could possibly dream up. We do this simply: creating space in the middle of the week to praise God together.
