Community News: Eugene and David La
On November 7, 2013, a tragic accident in our very own backyard – in the intersection of Harbord and Spadina – took the life of Grace Yang-Sim Kim, a long time resident of Toronto.
Mrs. Kim is survived by her two sons Eugene and David La, 35 and 27 years old respectively.
Not only did Eugene and David lose their mother, but also David, who has Down’s Syndrome, lost his primary caregiver.
Eugene now takes care of his brother David in addition to his full-time job and the responsibilities of wrapping up his mother’s affairs.
You can read more about Eugene and David’s story in an article that appeared in the Toronto Star earlier this week.
Several folks from Knox have befriended Eugene and David and many are praying for them. We believe that God is at work in this situation and that God has brought Eugene and David to us for a reason.
Knox is also working with local businesses and the local residents association to help show Eugene and David that the Harbord and Spadina neighbourhood cares about them and would like to see good come out of this horrible tragedy.
If you would like to be part of this effort one way that you can help is to make a contribution to the trust fund that has been set up for David. See the article for details of how to do that.
And thank you for your ongoing prayers for Eugene and David.
